There have been several claims that Chelsea manager Graham Potter has been sacked by the club.

This claim became popular after Chelsea lost to Southampton at Stamford Bridge by a single goal on Saturday.

Who is Graham Potter?

Graham Potter was appointed Chelsea manager on September 8, 2022, after Thomas Tuchel was sacked.

The former Brighton Hove and Albion coach has overseen 25 matches as Chelsea’s boss.

He has so far won nine matches, drawn seven, and lost nine as the club’s head coach.

Findings

Fact Check247 gathered that a Twitter account ‘skysports breaking news’ posted on Sunday, February 19, at 9:21 a.m. that the manager had been sacked.

“BREAKING: Graham Potter has been sacked by Chelsea FC,” it tweeted.

Some social media users have also subsequently posted and reposted the claim on their pages.

However, no official statement from the club has been issued more than 48 hours after the claim was made public.

Further findings also revealed that the Twitter account is a clone of the foremost British sports news medium, ‘Sky Sports News”, but has no proof of a connection with it.

It is also believed that even though the ‘infographics’ used for the announcement have the ‘sky sports’ logo, the main ‘sky sports’ didn’t post such information on any of its authentic and verified platforms.

Developing

There’s been a call for the sack of Graham Potter on the heels of the poor run of form by Chelsea, yet the club’s hierarchy has not made their position known in the wake of the call.

Verdict

Graham Potter is still the manager of Chelsea and has not been fired.
