Fact check 247 has dug deep into the claim that the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Senator Gbemisola Saraki has joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The claim was contained in a news story published by Ilorin Info on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.

The news medium cited an anonymous aide to the minister.

Findings

According to the findings of the Fact check247, Senator Gbemisola Saraki is still a card-carrying member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State.

Fact check247 contacted Adisa Ridwan Ajadi, an aide to the Minister who also doubles as the Press Secretary of Senator Gbemisola Rukayat Saraki (GRS) movement. He debunked the report describing it as false.

“The statement is false and incorrect. She has never at any point decided to leave the APC and the peddlers of that news met her at the party. They will be the ones to leave the party.

“She has contributed everything she has to the party and ensured that she was part of the consolidated efforts that deliver the Presidential Candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

He added that it would be illogical for the Minister to dump the party after having contributed to its success.

“That claim only existed in the figment of the people that are peddling it. She remains in the APC and is committed to the victory of the party,” he concluded.

Verdict

Fact Check247 verified that Senator Gbemisola Saraki is still a member of the All Progressives Congress and has not left the party.
