Recently, a social media claim has suggested that Nigerian Afro-pop singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has welcomed a new baby boy with his partner, Chioma.
The claim originated from a Twitter user with the handle @Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Stan, who tweeted at around 2 pm, “BREAKING!!! Join me in saying congratulations to Adeleke Family as Davido and Chioma welcome a new bouncing baby boy. Congratulations, sir.”
The post was made on Sunday, 30 July 2023, and has gained significant attention with 1490 comments, 2,754 reviews, 30,500 likes, and 1.7 million views.
While many users have extended their congratulations to the couple, some comments on the post have raised doubts about the authenticity of the story.
Various users have reposted and retweeted the claim, and some news websites have even published articles based on it.
Verification:
A thorough check conducted by the Informant247 team reveals that the photo in question was actually taken in 2019 when Davido and Chioma welcomed their late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.
Tragically, the couple lost their 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi, on 31 October 2022 after he reportedly drowned in a swimming pool at their residence.
It was also discovered that Davido had initially posted the photo in 2019 on his Instagram and Twitter pages while announcing the birth of their baby boy.
Additionally, neither Davido nor Chioma has confirmed the news of a new baby boy on their verified social media handles.
Verifying the Twitter handle
Regarding the Twitter user @Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Stan, it was found that the account does not belong to the actual Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who ran as the Labour Party Candidate in the last gubernatorial election in Lagos State.
The Twitter profile name reads “Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Stan,” and the information description focuses on Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour’s governorship ambition.
In conclusion, the claim that Davido welcomed a new baby boy with his wife is false. The photo used in the claim is from 2019 when the singer and his wife celebrated the birth of their late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke
