A post circulating on social media claims that the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services is currently conducting a job replacement exercise. The viral post, shared with an infographic, urges interested individuals to submit their CVs to fgn.secretariat@gmail.com.
The Claim
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services is inviting applications for job replacement opportunities and is currently recruiting across its agencies.
The Findings
FactCheck247’s investigation reveals that the claim is false.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), one of the agencies mentioned, has officially debunked the claim. In a post shared via its verified X (formerly Twitter) handle @nigimmigration, the agency cautioned the public against falling victim to fraudulent job advertisements. The statement reads:
“NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE CAUTIONS THE PUBLIC AGAINST FAKE RECRUITMENT ADVERTISEMENT ON FRAUDULENT WEBSITES.”
No official statement has been released by any of the other services, Civil Defence, Fire Service, or Correctional Service, supporting the claim. Moreover, the use of a free email domain (@gmail.com) instead of an official government address raises red flags about the authenticity of the advert.
The Verdict
The claim that the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services is currently recruiting is FALSE. Members of the public are advised to rely solely on official platforms for recruitment updates.
